Man Utd Kit Launch Event
Manchester United revealed their final instalment of match kit for the 2018/19 season with an exclusive launch event in Manchester city centre.
To add to the experience, Patterns of Play were commissioned to set-up and operate a live print station at the event, producing custom posters as souvenirs for the attendees to take away. The aim was to provide an engaging, hands-on activity for modern fans who exist in a digital world and demonstrate to them the significance of the printed page and it’s importance in football history.
The adidas store on Market Street was transformed into a pop up newsagents to launch the striking pink away shirt, which pays homage to the famous Manchester Evening News ‘Football Pink’ newspaper. Lucky fans who attended were exclusively able to buy the new shirt, as well as meet a host of special guests throughout the two-day celebration.
Celebrating the heritage of the pink, fans had their portrait taken by a professional photographer before having the chance to customise the posters using our pre-designed templates featuring quotes, slogans and imagery relating to Manchester United and The Football Pink.
The Football Pink newspaper was about creating headlines on the spot, sending to press and getting the word out there as quickly as possible. We replicated this process by allowing the fans to create their own headlines, print their posters and share them with the world.
